Club Marathon Place 2026

TCS 2026 London Marathon.

This year we have been lucky to receive 1 guaranteed place for the TCS 2026 London Marathon.

This place is awarded via a ballot and the number of places is based on the number of England Athletics registered athletes we have in the previous qualifying year.

As in previous years, when a place, or places, have been available, every club member who is registered first claim East Essex Triathlon Club with England Athletics and would like to run the London Marathon can apply.

To ensure a fair chance for all we have a tried and tested points scoring system to rank all applicants.

Every applicant starts with zero points and will gain or lose points dependant on the scoring criteria.

9. Were You a Club Member in 2025?

Each question carries either plus or minus points and once tallied up the applicant with the highest points wins the place. 

The Small Print

• In the event of a tie lots will be drawn by the Club Committee

• The Committees decision, in any adjudication, is final.

• If you obtain a club place you must agree to race for East Essex Triathlon Club and wear club colours.

• The place must be used by the applicant only.

• In the event of a change of mind re running the marathon the place will be passed to the next eligible applicant but this must be prior to the athlete registration deadline of 16^th December 2026.

• The place(s) will be allocated on the base of highest points wins. 

• Only England Athletics registered, first claim East Essex Triathlon Club, are eligible for any allocated place(s).

The Scoring System

The following example shows the points available and how they will be allocated. (See Fig. 1)

• Did You Run? – by taking away the highest points from the most recent runners gives more chance to those who have not run for a couple of years. 

• Did You Enter? – By going back 3 years it boosts the chances of people who have been repeatedly rejected. Years entered when not a member do not count. 

• Did You Marshal at a Club Event – All those applicants who regularly fulfil their required marshalling quota, as outlined in membership t&cs, will be rewarded with additional points.

• Were You a Member? - Reward for longer term members; obviously all applicants must be members. Deters people from joining the club, getting a place then leaving.
