It was another busy week for the East Essex Tri club members with both juniors and seniors racing at venues throughout the country and internationally and claiming a number of podium places and personal bests amongst great personal performances.
Clacton provided the backdrop for the final league event of the season for the Junior members.
The duathlon format, comprising of a run, bike, run combination, had varying distances for each age group from 8 to 16 years old.
East Essex Tri were well represented and had trophy winners with Leon Wheeler winning the Youth race and Toby Aitken 2nd in Tristart boys.
At the famous Vitruvian half ironman distance triathlon held annually at Rutland Water Tora Bishop excelled to finish the 1900m swim, 85km cycle and 21km run in an impressive 4hrs 56 mins and gaining 3rd place age group finish.
Also competing in the race were Zena Shean, 7th in category 5:31 and Jack Martin, 21st in category in a personal best of 5:02.
Further afield, East Essex triathletes Danielle Howell and Bill Smith travelled to France to compete in the full distance 3,8km swim, 180km cycle and marathon event.
Danielle, competing in her first Ironman, completed the race in 13hrs 29 mins to come 13th in her category while Bill finished in a very creditable 11hrs 05 mins.
Also taking on the Ironman challenge, this time in Wales, was Sahar Khan.
Known as one of the most difficult courses due to it's sea swim and hilly bike course Sahar shattered her previous best by nearly an hour to finish in 14hrs 30.
Sahar, who joined East Essex tri in 2017 said "What a difference a year makes, a year of great coaching and support from a fantastic tri club!"
