Club Storage

The club has recently built on our relationship with Basildon Sporting Village and with the help of our new club sponsors, Lemon Fencing, we now have 2 sheds to store club property. The sheds are next to the track at Basildon and are ideally located to help store kit for the majority of the club races.

Mob Match

Following the success of last years Mob Match at Blackwater Sailing Club, between East Essex Tri Club, Blackwater Tri and Tri Sport Epping - there will be 2 Mob Matches this year at the same venue. The races are BTF registered with First aid and race officials ensuring a safe and fair race. The first race will be held on 26th May, More details to follow .... but keep this date in your diary for now!

Tri a Trier

Congratulations to Ellie Davies - this months recipient of the Tri-a-Trier award. This is an award presented to the club member who in the coaches opinion has tried their hardest during training sessions and provided a positive contribution to the club. This is an award which we haven't been presenting for the last few months as we adjusted to life in the Basildon Sporting Village - but the coaches believe with the growing numbers of members attending our sessions it is an important monthly award to help maintain and recognise the positive contribution so many members give to the club.

So well done Ellie - keep up the good work!!

Lakeside Triathlon

Local Tri Clubs are offered a discounted entry into the Lakeside Triathlon on 17th June. This race is the Eastern Region Adult Sprint Championship and will be held on 17th June. We have the 1500 September SwimFest race at Lakeside as a League event. For a 20% discount to this race please quote EETCleague2012 when entering. East Essex Races included in Eastern Leagues

The Wilkins Kennedy Grays Triathlon has been included as a race in the Eastern Region Adult League. The East Essex Kids Triathlon has also been included in the Eastern Region Leagues and will also be an IRC qualifier race. The inclusion of both of these races in the Eastern Region Leagues is due to the reputation that both races has as being well organised with very enthusiastic support and marshaling.

EETC Events

East Essex Tri Club are pround to announce the opening of their events for 2012.

This year the Aquathlon 15th April and Kids Tri 2nd June are moving to the new sports centre at Basildon Sporting Village. We are also including an Off Road Triathlon for adults on the same day as the Kids Triathlon on 2nd June. The Grays Triathlon returns to it's normal weekend this year on the 22nd July and remains at Blackshots Leisure Centre in Grays.

EETC on BTF website

There was an issue with EETC registration with BTF which meant we didn't appear as a club when you tried to register as a BTF member. This issue has now been corrected and we are again listed as a BTF registered club.

Club Championships 2012

The club championship race for 2012 will be Maldon Sprint Triathlon on 15th July. Entries are now open for this race and cost £42 for paper entries or £45 for online entries - Please specify you are a member of East Essex Tri when entering. This should be a very exciting race with East Essex Tri Club members starting in 2 waves (Female and Male Vets in one wave and Senior males in another). So we will truely have the opportunity to race your fellow members and have the motivation to try that little bit harder as you see the person who normally just beats you - a little bit ahead of you as you near the finish line!

Steeple Time Trial

Please remember to register, by emailing timetrial@southendwheelers.org by tomorrow (11th December) for the Steeple Time Trial - which takes place on 18th December. This event is open to all adult and youth members, as well as TriStars who are aged 12 or older on the day. Event HQ is Steeple Village Hall, with the first rider off at 10 a.m.

Hadleigh Cross Country

Sunday 11th Dec is the third Cross Country race for the year at Hadleigh. Team managera for the day is Zena Shean (look out for the EETC flag). We will meet from 9.30 am for a 10.30 am start. Please note that the car parking fills quickly - so get there early or car share.

Access. Entry to the park is via Chapel Lane which is off the A13 in Hadleigh. Just follow the brown road signs to the car park.

Parking. The car park is pay and display with a charge of £2.00 per car for any stay over one hour. We suggest you share cars wherever possible to minimise cost and ease congestion in the car park.

Bike Maintenance Course

Dan Stuart and Graeme Silcock have organised a Bike Maintenance Course on 17th December at the Rayleigh Cricket Club.

The session will start at 11:00 and will mainly consist of basic maintance and adjustments, as well as some hints tips on bike fitting.

To Saturday morning run will start from Rayleigh Cricket Ground at the usual 8am start time and the secrect Santa will also take place with some teas and coffees. We will be asking for a few pounds contribution for the hall and teas and coffees,

Thorndon Cross Country

Sunday 27th Nov is the second Cross Country race for the year at Thorndon Country Park. Team manager for the day is Janice Brown (look out for the EETC flag). Monday Turbo Sessions

Ian George has organised his popular turbo sessions again this year. They will start on Monday 7th November and this year they will be held at Runnymede Swimming Pool. The sessions will start at 7.45 pm with a 15 minute warm up with the main set starting at 8.00 pm. The sessions themselves will finish at around 8.40 pm giving members plenty of time to get ready to swim afterwards if they so wish. Ideally members will need to be there by 7.30 pm allowing enough time to set up. Eash session will cost £3.00

The club championship race for 2012 will be held at the Maldon Sprint Triathlon on 15th July. We will have discounted entry and will start in waves (one for Senior males and one for Females and Vet males).To add to the athmosphere we will have our own area at the event for a marquee and picnic after the race. The 2012 membership is now open using our online entry system. You can renew your membership for 2012 for £26 (this will rise to £31 at the end of January). New members can join for £31 and juniors can join for £12. All these prices include membership of England Athletics. The online entry system can be found here.

Triathlete of the year

At the annual awards evening (19th November at Down Hall School - tickets available here we present prizes for winners of the leagues and championships. We also have an opportunity for each member to vote for the male and female triathlete of the year (TOTY) (adults vote for adults TOTY and Tri Stars vote for Tri Star TOTY). This is your chance to vote for the person you think performed the best, did the most fot he club / sport of triathlon or the person who helped you most - it's your vote so you decide. Zena has prepared a short overview of the year to help you decide (see the overview here). The voting forms are attached to the awards evening tickets (you can still vote for TOTY even if you cannot attend the awards night). Please complete and return to Neil Lynch (address in the ticket form) by 11th November.

Winter Bike Rides

The winter bike rides start this Sunday (16th October). The dates for the rides and the ride leaders for each week can be found on the Training page. Please don't forget - lights and mudguards please - it's not much fun riding for 2 hours getting a facefull of road spray! This year we will also include some off road/MTB rides for a little variety!

Essex Junior Cross Country

Our Tri Stars have been invited to compete in this Saturday's Essex Cross Country races at Great Notley Country Park Discover Centre, Great Notley, Braintree, Essex CM77 7FS. This is open to Tri Stars and youths 11 years to 17 years. Please speak with Zena if you are interested in this race (there are seperate Under 13, 15 and 17 racses for boys and girls).

Last Lakeside Swim of the year: We have the last lakeside swim of the year on Saturday 24th Sep - we'd like to see as many members as possible at this swim and join the lead swimmers for a coffee/cake after the swim!
Summer BBQ: The end of season BBQ will be held at the Rayleigh Cricket club on 30th September. There is also a pre BBQ ride - see the forum for details. this event is for Adult members and parents of Tri-Star and Youth members.
Mob Match: This year's mob match is on 8th October in Heybridge and is against Blackwater and Tri Sport Epping. Registration starts at 7:15 with a race start of 8:15am. We need as many members as possible to race and help us win back our rightful prize!!
Hogg Hill: We have an afternoon booked at Hogg Hill on 23rd October for cycle training and racing (includes a time trial, hill climb and road race). This event is open to all members (Adult, Youth and Tri Stars).
Winter Bike Rides: The winter bike rides will start on 16th October - meeting at the market car park in Rayleigh at 7.30am (will change to 8.30am in December and January). Please read the advice for winter riding

Basildon Village Indoor Tri

A huge thanks to everyone who helped with the Basildon Sporting Village Indoor Tri last week. This was a very important event for East Essex Tri as it was our first opportunity to show the BSV management how well we can run events and will help us to host more of our events at this excellent facility. The BSV management from around the country were really impressed and rated Basildon event the best of their series!!

SwmFest at Lakeside

It's not too late to enter the last Swim Fest of 2011 on 18th September. Mike Porter, the race organiser and club member, has offered a free place to the first person to contact him (porter1237@tiscali.co.uk for either the 750m, 1500m, 3.8K or 5K race. In addition, there ia a free to enter 100m relay race around the pontoon for teams of 3 which was great fun last time so if anybody or any team wants to enter they will need to register on the day before 11.00am. The relay will take place at about 11.40.

Hogg Hill Cycle

We have organised a cycle day at Hogg Hill Cycle Track on 23rd October. This will follow the format of previous years with a hill climb, time trial and cycle race. This is open to all club members (adult, youth and tristar). This is arranged as a huge thank you to all our members who have helped with the success of the club this year but marshalling and support us!
