Competitors are politely reminded that it is a direct infringement of British Triathlon competition rules to use any device to mark their position in transition. This includes excessive application of Talcum Powder in and around the competitors transition area. This and any other device or marker will be removed by the duty official where possible. If this is not possible a statutory 2 minute penalty will be applied.
This event will be registered and permitted with Triathlon England.
Race instructions and individual start times will be published in the week before the race.
Tristar registration is from 10:30 to 12:00 for a 12:45 race start (race briefing at 12:30).
Adult registration is from 13:00 to 14:30 for a 15:15 race start (race briefing at 15:00).
If you and your child are both racing then we will endeavour to register you both together.
The TriStar(t) event will take place before the Adult & Youth event
The TriStar(t)s will start in the following order: Tristar 3, Tristar 2, Tristar 1, Tristar Start. This gives the youngest competitors the opportunity to watch the older ones and see how it's done.
The tristar swim will be either 2, 6, 8 or 12 lengths (depending on age) and the adult swim will be 16 lengths, swam in a snake style. Transition will be through a fire exit, directly outside the pool, then competitors will leave the Sporting Village complex to complete the run in the grounds of Gloucester Park. Tristars will follow a flat out and back course (distance according to age) and adults will take on a 5km lap including running over ‘Helicopter Hill’ – the proof that all of Essex is not flat!
The Run Courses
As soon as the last competitor has finished we will begin compiling the results and then have the prize giving. We will get the results online as soon as possible because we race too and know how frustrating it is to spend all Sunday night hitting the refresh button!
For further information I've included a link to the 2016 race instructions which every competitor received. It takes you through the whole event step by step highlighting what's expected of you as a competitor and with additional information for your supporters. Updated instructions will be issued prior to the next event. Basildon Aquathlon Race Instructions 2016.pdf
