EAST ESSEX TRI CLUB - RACE REPORT

Norwich Aquathlon 2009

Written by Sam Pettit and Sophie Hart

7 keen competitors made the long journey up to Norwich on Sunday 27th September 2009 to compete in the annual Aquathlon. East Essex were rewarded with some exceptional results in all categories, making the 5 o'clock start worthwhile. The Tri Star 1 girls enjoyed great success within their category, with Keira Tippett taking 3rd place, and Sinead Clark coming in to claim 5th. The Tri Star 3 boys also performed to a high standard, although they had stiff competition from some great athletes. George Knight claimed 8th place, followed closely by Oliver Pettit in 9th position.

It was then the turn of the adults to reflect what their young team mates had achieved. The 300m swim and 2.8km was easily completed and did not phase any competitor as their results showed. Sophie Hart picked up more silverware for East Essex and came home in 2nd place. Sam Pettit continued his great form and ended the season well with 3rd place overall.

Peter Campion displayed an admiral performance, claiming 9th place within the Masters category. Simon Tippett proved that he is as fierce a competitor as his daughter by achieving 7th position within his race. With the day proving to be a great success, the only thing missing was an age group win. Alan Clark delivered such a glory by winning the Masters group in a time of 18.01.

All in all such an array of achievements did East Essex proud and we think it's fair to say that it was another great set of results from our annual trip to Norwich.
